Of course this isn't what happened. Instead it was so hot that I felt like dry heaving right in the beginning, didn't adjust my expectations, and had to stop at 2.75 to toss my shirt off and never regained momentum. Cooled down for two miles instead.
Disappointing but lesson learned.
